Jack A. Smith, 84 of Tipton died at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Miller's Merry Manor, Tipton. He was born February 23, 1929 in Tipton County to Glen H. & Sarah (Hinkle) Smith. On June 6, 1948 he married Barbara Williams, she preceded him in death in October of 1981. He later married Alma Jordon Watson, she also preceded him in death in 1997. Jack married Jane Hutchinson Priebe in June of 1997, she survives.

Jack retired from farming in 2007, he was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer and loved raising purebred Suffolk sheep. He was past president of Indiana Suffolk Breeders Association and Tipton County Livestock Breeders where he was inducted into the Tipton County Livestock Breeders Hall of fame. Jack spent many years on the Tipton County 4-H fair livestock sale committee. He was a host farm for the Indiana Farm Management Tour in 1985. He volunteered at Lee Memorial Health Park in Ft. Myers. Jack enjoyed fishing and hunting. He kept busy in Indiana tending to his garden and yard in the summer and while in Florida in the winter enjoyed fishing, sight seeing and finding new places to eat.

He survived by his wife Jane; three children, Jerry Smith and wife Sandra (Ehman), Tipton, Jane Watson and husband Carl, Tipton, Lisa Fettig and husband Kurt, Elwood; seven grandchildren, Millicent Smith, Parker Smith, Clint Fettig, Kate Hill, Carly Fettig, Rachel Bauer, and Audrey Watson; four great-grandchildren, Mallory Bauer, Henry Bauer, Stella Smith, Jack Fettig, and baby Smith due in October.

He preceded in death by two brothers, William E. Smith and Robert N. Smith.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday July 3, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Carol Sowle presiding. Burial at Tetersburg Cemetery will follow. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the management staff, nurses, and aides at Miller's Merry Manor for all of their care for the last 13 months.
