Jimmie Joe Scott, 81 of Tipton died Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Celina, Tennessee on June 3, 1942 to Oss and Ready (Morris) Scott. On Valentine’s Day in 1990, he married Sue Landseadel, spending 34 years together.

Jimmie was the owner and operator of Jim’s Northside Phillips 66 Gas Station. He was an excellent mechanic by any measure. He enjoyed working on his customers automobiles and in turn, he gained a well respected reputation for his expertise. Jimmie was a member of the Quartermilers Automotive Club. He was an avid race car fan and enjoyed running the dragster on the quarter mile track. Jimmie would often be found at his favorite fishing hole. He and Sue would also travel to Dale Hollow twice a year to hone up on his fishing skills.

Survivors include his wife Sue, children Jimmie Joe Scott, Jr. and wife Sherry of Noblesville, Robin Ann Smith and husband Dan of Tipton, Bobby Scott of Tipton, Andy Griffith and wife Pat of Charlotte, NC, Amy Hunter of Tipton and Wendy Jackson and husband Mike of Tipton. His grandchildren include: Charlie Scott, Chase Scott, Jimmie Joe Scott III, Sean Smith, Khloe Scott, Devin Griffith, Ty Griffith, Kalli Griffith, Brock Griffith (Kelsey), Alexis Waites (Eric Ragan and son Owen), Calin Ballinger, Axle Hunter, Kristofer Jackson and Keaton Jackson. His great-grandchildren: Eli, McKala and McKinzi Taylor, Alex Smith, Nico Pearson, Abraham and Zeb Griffith, Baby Girl Martin and Hayden Martin, Raina Hawkins, Ann Ree Hawkins, Nova Skye Hawkins, Isla Griffith, Kylie Kay Griffith, and Finley Smith.

He was preceded in death by his 13 siblings.

  4. You know a man that fishes is always a Great Man. You could ask Jimmy for advise on a car engine noise when cars were cars and jimmy could most likely tell you what it was coming from. Great Smile and knew everyone. Nice Guy from Tennessee
