John A. Wallace, 98 of Tipton died Friday, October 30, 2020 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. He was born in Anderson, Indiana on October 30, 1922 to Earl and Etta (Clauser) Wallace. He married Deloris Miller On December 7, 1950. In 1952 they moved from Anderson to the Atlanta area. Deloris preceded him in death on March 2, 2000.

John served his country in the Navy during WWII. He was a die maker at Delco Remy in Anderson for 44 years, retiring in 1985. He belonged to the Omega Christian Church and was very active in the Masonic Lodge as 50 year member and was Masonic Grand High of Indiana during 1985-1986. He held numerous offices in the lodge throughout the years. For over 40 years he was a member of the Amateur Radio Club. He was a director of the Indiana WeatherNet for several years and was also an active member of the Indiana TrafficNet.

John is survived by two sons, Kenneth and wife Ann of Kokomo and Dennis and wife Brenda of St. Louis, MO. He has four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by a son, Forrest (June) a sister and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 3, at 2:00 P.M. at Omega Christian Church with Pastor Neal Brown presiding. Visitation will occur at the church from Noon Tuesday until service time. Masonic rites will be provided by the Austin Masonic Lodge at the beginning of the funeral. Burial with Military Honors from the Tipton American Legion will follow at Arcadia Cemetery.

  1. I knew John from the Senior Center. He sure loved to play cards and had an excellent memory. He always recited a poem from memory when there was any military program. He will be missed for sure. R.I.P. John, you earned it.

    I knew John for many years. He was a kind and gentle person who I believe did his best to live up to the standards of his beliefs,. was a good brother Mason and a dedicated amateur radio op.. May you rest in peace Brother John, you will be missed, 73s.

  3. SO sad to learn of the passing of good friend, fellow ham radio operator, and brother mason John. Always enjoyed talking with him on the ham radio for years. We enjoyed a trip to the Auburn Auto Museum before he had to go into nursing home in Tipton. Our prayers and thoughts are with his family during this time of grief and reflection.

  4. My condolences and prayers to the family and friend. I met John Wallace on ham radio on the Indiana Traffic Net, he was an inspiration and became a good friend and also a brother in Masonry.

  5. My condolences to the family and all that knew John. I knew John as a ham radio operator with a call sign of AB9AA who set the example for setting up a excellent radio station. Additionally knew John Wallace as a brother MASON & York Rite. Always enjoyed hearing about his experiences in the Navy during WW II. He frequently talked about his son who was also a ham radio operator. So long John now a Silent Key from Don KA9QWC.
