Margaret R. "Maggie" Gillespie

Margaret R. “Maggie” Gillespie, 87 of Biloxi, Mississippi and formerly of Tipton died at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019 in Gulfport, Mississippi. Maggie was born in Tipton to Isadore “Pat” Tragesser and Anna (Hickner) Tragesser. She married Louis Gillespie February 6, 1954.

Maggie was a retired casino hostess, operator of her own daycare business, and homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi since moving to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1964.

She is survived by her sons, Tim Gillespie, Father Martin Gillespie, Eric Gillespie, and Marc Gillespie; a daughter, Rhonda Rideout; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Jane Folk, Esther Folk, Theresa Starke, Judy Collins, Barb Lipetri, Norma Stiner, Carol Mozzone, Agnes Hewitt, Gene Tragesser, and Edie Burke.

Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Gillespie; a son, Brian Gillespie and her granddaughter, Stephanie Rideout; siblings Louis, George, William, Jerome, Phillip and Leonard Tragesser, Beatrice Toler and Dorothy Koors.

A funeral mass for Maggie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Fr. Dennis Goth presiding. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
