Mary Lou Cage
Mary Lou Cage, 68 of Arcadia died at 3:17 p.m. on Sunday, January 16, 2022 surrounded by her family at her residence. She was born in Tipton County on December 12, 1953 to Donald & Earle (Cuningham) Shock. On June 28, 1975 she married Joseph Cage. The couple had five children and enjoyed 46 years of marriage together.
Mary devoted her life to caring for others; she was a Registered Nurse at Tipton Hospital and Riverview Hospital during her 38 year career before she retired in 2015. Mary graduated from Tipton High School class of 1972. After high school she continued her education and graduated from Indiana University Kokomo as a Registered Nurse in 1979. She loved to fish, go bowling, and dancing. Mary cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph; children, Dan Cage and wife Kelly of Florida, Kimberly Cage and husband Robin Miller of Indiana, Adam Cage of Florida, April King and husband Patrick of Indiana, and Sarah Cage of Indiana; three siblings, Debbie Seitler of Florida, Eric Shock and wife Marlene of Florida, and Linda Jones of Texas. Mary is also survived by four grandchildren, Henry & Claire King and Alex & Rose Cage and in-laws Doug and Janene Cage of Indiana, Jerry and Melanie Cage of Texas, Geraldine and Joe Mahaney of Indiana, Mary Jo and Danny Phifer of Indiana, and Pam Cage. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Shock.
Funeral services for Mary will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Cicero with Rev. Sean Pogue presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Tipton. Visitation will be on Friday, January 21 at Sacred Heart Church from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.

JJoe and family, so sorry on the loss of your dear wife Mary and your children’s mother and grandmother .She was a very quite lady and had the kindest heart . I don’t think I ever seen her get upset with any one . She was so , loving , and so thoughtful to everyone she knew. I went to high school with her and your Dad and grandfather .. I knew the Cage family and loved them all. They were all a special family to me when growing up . Blessings to all of you .

So very sorry for your family’s loss. I used to babysit for your family when Dan and Kimberly were little. If you don’t remember me, my maiden name was Leonard. And Mary worked with my Grandmother Edna Taylor up at Tipton hospital.

Sorry for this terrible loss. Prayers for family and friends. I had the pleasure of working with Mary at Tipton Hospital years ago. She was a wonderful caring person and a great nurse. It was always nice chatting with her as we saw each other at mass. Hope her family can find peace.

Joe, I am so sorry to hear that Mary had passed. I am sorry I won’t be able to attend Mary’s funeral. She was a volunteer for Birthright for about 12 years. She was also my (home) nurse when I was pregnant with my daughter. She was a kind and gentle person. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
I just read about Mary’s passing in The Catholic Moment. I’m so sorry! She will be missed by many. I volunteered with her at Birthright. She was a kind and caring person! We had many long talks that always made me feel encouraged.
