Nancy Ellen (Goar) Cole died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 24, 2024, from natural causes at the age of 95. She was born in Tipton on February 10, 1929, to Joseph Jean Goar and Ethel Mae (Paul) Goar. Her only sibling, Betty (Goar) Ford, preceded her in death. On October 9, 1948, she married Bernard A. Andrews who died on October 8, 2021, her first husband and father to her only child. After she and Bernard were divorced, she married Preston L. Cole On March 9, 1963. He preceded her in death on September 24, 2006.

Nancy was a 1947 Honor Graduate of Tipton High School. She lived most of her life in Tipton County and worked in the agricultural extension office in the 1960’s and 70’s and then for the Tipton Municipal Utilities. She was a life-long member of the Kemp United Methodist Church, the Tipton County Historical Society, the Quilters Round Table, the Early American Pattern Glass Society and she especially enjoyed the Kemp Knitting club which she helped organize. She loved her family, friends, and her Church.

She is survived by her son, Bernard J. “B.J.” Andrews of Noblesville and his wife, Dr. Marilyn Gehlhausen Andrews; three grandsons and one great-grandson, Nicholas J. Andrews and his wife Billie DeRemer, and their son Henry J. Andrews; Benjamin L. Andrews and his wife Joan Apolinario and Alexander J. Andrews.

Funeral services for Nancy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Cooper presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service.

    Don’t know if I’ve ever met a nicer lady than Nancy Cole. Certainly enjoyed working with her at the City Offices. May she rest in peace.
