Robert J. “Bob” Barga, 92 of Tipton passed away at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at IU Health – Tipton Hospital. Bob was born on August 18, 1929 in Frenchtown, Ohio to Leonard O. & Margaret (Henry) Barga. On May 4, 1957, Bob and JoAnn Mary Kloeker were married and embarked on an adventure that would last 65 years and produce six children.

Bob had worked for J & M Wagon Equipment as a sales representative. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipton and its Usher Club as well as serving on the Parish Council. Bob was also a member of the American Legion and recently received a 50-Year Service award from them. He had served in the US Army as a paratrooper.

He is survived by his wife JoAnn; his children Daniel Barga and wife Cathy, Sugar Hill, Georgia, David Barga, Brownsburg, Jeff Barga and wife Michelle, Charlotte, North Carolina, Mary Barga-Stephens, Tipton and Amanda Duncan and husband Rob, Zionsville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by one sister, Martha Murphy of Piqua, Ohio. Bob was preceded in death by one son, Leonard Barga, three brothers and four sisters.

A funeral mass for Bob will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 23 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Dennis Goth presiding. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Tipton American Legion and the US Army. Visitation will be from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home.

    Uncle Bob was a true and honest man, and so dang funny and fun to be around. Our hearts are heavy, he will be greatly missed. His spirit will remain as he touched so many peoples’ lives. All of our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Barga family. We hope everyone finds comfort in knowing he is at peace.

  6. JoAnn and family so sorry to hear about Bob. He was a great guy and looked up to gentleman. I will always remember and be grateful to Bob for letting me spend a day with him in his sales job for an Ag Econ sales assignment I had at Purdue. We had a great day and I learned some pointers in my young sales career. He always had a good joke or two to throw in a timely fashion! He will certainly be missed.
