Tom Heffelmire, 65 of Tipton passed away at 4:14 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at IU North Hospital in Carmel after struggling with a long illness. He is now with the Lord.

Tom was born in Kokomo on December 27, 1953 to Clarence F. & Ethel (Burtner) Heffelmire. He married Debbie Coers on October 15, 1983 and she survives. Tom worked at Chrysler in Kokomo for 32 years, retiring in 2005 as a Job Setter. After retirement Tom enjoyed farm work until his health prevented him from working.

He had attended Tipton High School. Tom had also formerly attended Emanuel Lutheran Church and later Rock Prairie Baptist Church, both in Tipton. Hobbies he enjoyed include working with wood, gardening and just tinkering in his garage.

Survivors besides his wife Debbie include two sons, James Barr, Indianapolis and Ryan Barr, Tipton; four grandchildren, Kyle Williams and wife Aly, Kaitlyn Williams, Austin Barr and Hailey Wolfe; one great-grandchild, Oliver. Tom is also survived by his four brothers, David Heffelmire and wife Shirley, Kokomo, Richard Heffelmire and wife Diane, Sharpsville, Harold Heffelmire and Michael Heffelmire, both of Tipton.

Tom’s funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 8 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
