LaRonda Lyn Ison, 44, of Atlanta died at 1:33 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2011 at IU Health Tipton Hospital. She was born July 18, 1967 in Tipton to Garry & Mickey (Pickett) Ryan. On April 4, 1992 she married Scott Ison and he survives.

LaRonda was a math teacher at Tipton Community Schools, starting there in 1998. She had previously taught at Lebanon High School from 1990-97. She was a member of Rock Prairie Baptist Church, a Key Club sponsor at Tipton High School and a member of the American Simmental Association. She took tickets at Tipton High School basketball games and was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association.

LaRonda was a 1985 graduate of Tipton High School where she was a feature twirler in the band. She received a Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University in 1989 where she was also a twirler in the band. She received a Master’s Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Survivors besides her husband and parents include two daughters, Shelby Ison and Shaylee Ison, both at home; a grandmother, Georgia Ryan, Tipton; her in-laws, Jerry & Pat Ison, Madison, Indiana; one brother-in-law, Sean Ison, one sister-in-law, Tracy Reid and husband Jay; nieces and nephews Brandon Ryan, Lindsay Reid, Seanna Reid and Kash Ison. She was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Ryan.

Her funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 4 at Rock Prairie Baptist Church, 421 Ash Street, Tipton, with Rev. Kevin Carr presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, all at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to an education fund for LaRonda’s children at Star Financial Bank, 874 E. Jefferson Street, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.
