David E. Ziegler, 74 of Tipton died Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Millers Merry Manor in Tipton.  He was born in Tipton on November 9, 1944 to Leonard A. and Ruth L. (Borton) Ziegler.  Dave worked at Kroger in Kokomo, retiring several years ago.

Dave was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus where he was a past Grand Knight.  He belonged to the ushers club at church and was a member of The Encore Center in Tipton.

David served his country in the Army from September of 1965 through September 1967.

He is survived by siblings, Butch Ziegler, Tipton, Susie Holloway, Atlanta, and Mary Ann Sorensen of Tipton.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Reynolds.

Services are scheduled for Friday, January 4, 2019.  Graveside committal with Military Rites will be conducted at 9:00 a.m. at St. John’s Cemetery.  The family will then receive friends at St. John’s Catholic Church from 9:30 until 10:00 a.m. when a memorial mass will be held with Rev. Dennis Goth presiding.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Johns Building Fund, 340 Mill Street Tipton, Indiana, 46072.

  1. A very good man. Probably one of the kindest people I have ever known. Though he had many years of illness he was loved by all. Rest in Peace David you deserve a peaceful after life

  2. Dave was absolutely one of my favorite people in Tipton, We talked a lot and even corresponded with some letters over the years since I have moved away from Tipton. I remember always almost instantly getting a smile on my face when I saw him and he always would ask me how multiple family members were doing. I will miss him and can’t wait to see him again someday.

  4. Dave was a classmate of mine and was interested in working on all of our class reunions. He always cared about his classmates even after he moved to Millers. He was very kind and generous with everyone he knew.

  5. I met Dave when he began coming to the Senior Center and we discovered he was a very good Scrabble player. We always enjoyed his company and he was a gracious man. He will be missed. R.I.P. Dave,

  6. Dave was a great person. I would see him while shopping at Krogers he would always take time to talk, Always had a great smile. He will be missed.

  7. David was my first cousin, once removed. He always asked about various family members
    and took an interest in his fellow residents at Miller’s. He will be missed by our family &
    his many Tipton friends.

  8. To Butch and the rest of Dave’s family I send you my heartfelt sympathy. Dave was a great guy and I always enjoyed talking with him when I got the chance. His smile is something that so many will remember. RIP Dave !

  9. Dave was one of my dearest friends. He loved when I would bring my piano students to Miller’s for a piano recital. He was a great friend to my mom while she was at Miller’s even though she was nineteen years his senior. He will be greatly missed.
