Wilma Ilene Harlow, 93 of Tipton died Saturday, January 5, 2019 at IU Health Tipton Hospital.  She was born on November 7, 1925 in Hillsdale, Indiana to Claude & Ella (Boyd) McDowell.  On July 6, 1946 she married George Harlow and he preceded her in death on September 16, 1994.

She was a housewife.  Wilma was a member of the Normanda Christian Church, Tipton County Historical Society, and Home Economics Club.  Wilma also volunteered at IU Tipton Hospital.  She loved knitting and crocheting.  Wilma proudly made hats for premature babies.

She is survived by four children, Sandra Eck and husband Klaus, Rochester, Indiana, Jerry Harlow and wife Patty, Tipton, Kathy Gaddy and husband Thomas, Sharpsville, Amy Thoman and husband Jeff, Delray Beach, Florida; nine grandchildren, Shannon (Fernung) Hall, Kelley (Larimore) Rensberger, Chris Thoman, Cory Thoman, April Thoman, Shawna (Fernung) Thomas, Adam Harlow, Aaron Harlow, Andrea (Harlow) Stafford.  Wilma is also survived by her 12 great-grandchildren, Braden Hall, Bailey Hall, Thomas Rensberger, Evan Rensberger, Kathleen Rensberger, Holden Thomas, Maddux Thomas, Adeline Thomas, Ashton Harlow, Avery Harlow, Cora Stafford, Harlow Stafford, and last but not least, Jackson Stafford, who is on his way; special friends, Deana and Alan Foutch.  Wilma was preceded in death by siblings, Martha Woodard, Lorene Rinehart, Lucille Decker, Raymond Boyd McDowell, and Joseph Charles McDowell.

Funeral services for Wilma will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 12 at Normanda Christian Church with Steve Brown presiding.  Burial will follow in Normanda Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11:00 – 1:00 Saturday at the Church.

Memorial contributions in Wilma’s memory may be made to Normanda Christian Church, 8019 W. Division Road, Tipton, Indiana 46072 or Tipton County Historical Society, 323 W. South Street, Tipton, Indiana  46072.

    Sandy, Jerry, Kathy and Amy, Sorry to hear of your moms passing. Their group is getting smaller and smaller. Please know our thoughts are with you all. We won’t be able to join you to celebrate her life but we are all thinking of your family. We have many memories of time spent with your mom. Bless you all.
