David Keith Coverdale, 86 of Tipton died Monday, June 29, 2015 at his residence at 8:05 a.m. He was born in Hamilton County on October 5, 1928 to John Wesley and Thelma Cecil (Dienst) Coverdale. He married Annabelle Lee on August 13, 1948 and she preceded him in death on September 3, 2002.

Dave was a distributor for Standard Oil Company, co-owner of Maxey & Coverdale Homes and co-owner of Garco Industrial Company. He was a Tipton High School Graduate and member of West Street Christian Church. Dave was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and a past member of the Tipton Elks. He loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and family. He loved working and enjoyed writing poetry, Cubs baseball and bowling. Dave was known as a prankster, pulling practical jokes and enjoying making people laugh.

David served in the Navy Marine as a 3rd class aviation radioman from 1946 through 1948. He earned an early honorable discharge to take over the family business upon the illness of his father.

Dave is survived by three children; Gregory Alan Coverdale of Port Charlotte, Florida, Pamela Sue (Coverdale) Cage of Tipton and David Mark Coverdale and wife Sheril of Tipton; four grandchildren, Jade (Coverdale) Habrych, Casey Coverdale, Ashlee Cage and Emylee Cage; two great-grandchildren, Harley Taylor and Kohen Habrych. Also surviving are 2 sisters, Carolyn Perry of Carlisle, Indiana and Rita LaQuanti and husband Joe of Beavercreek, Ohio, his brother Steve Coverdale and wife Janie of Tipton and brother-in-law Charlie Maxey of Tipton. David was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dick Cage, his sister Rosie Maxey, grandson Wesley Beaty and a brother-in-law Allen Perry.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday July 3, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Steve Brown presiding. Burial with military rites will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorial donations to be made to the Rosie Maxey Scholarship Fund c/o The Tipton County Foundation P.O. Box 412 Tipton, Indiana 46072.
