Esther Rosalyn “Rosie” Zell, 91 of Tipton died Friday, June 15, 2018 at Wellbrooke in Westfield.  She was born on July 7, 1926 in Howard County to William H, & Reba L. (Stout) Lewis.  Rosie was united in marriage to Robert N. “Bob” Zell on December 28, 1947 and he preceded her in death on January 11, 2016.  They were married for 68 years.

She retired in 1987 from Lincoln School, where she was the school’s first secretary.  Rosie was a faithful member of the West Street Christian Church and past member of Phi Beta Psi sorority.  She graduated from Ervin High School in 1944 and attended Purdue University until she and Bob were married.  Rosie and Bob were residents of Tipton until Bob’s death in 2016.  Upon retirement, Rosie and Bob enjoyed 27 memorable winters in Florida.

She is survived by her three children, Stephen Zell and wife Donna, Cicero, Cynthia Juday and husband Jeff, Noblesville and James Zell and wife Ellen, Cicero; six grandchildren, Chris Zell and wife Heather, Daniel Zell, Kyle Juday and wife Nicole, Kevin Juday, Britta Burgan and husband Seth, and Landon Zell; two great-grandchildren, Nora Zell and Luke Juday; two sisters, Marilyn Burke, Kokomo, Diana Alter and husband Lance, Burlington, Indiana.  In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents.

Rosie’s funeral will be at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the West Street Christian Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West Street Christian Church, 132 N. West Street, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.

    Steve and Donna,
    You are in my thoughts and prayers. I am thankful that your mom is now at peace and resting in the arms of Jesus. You were blessed to have a godly mother, and she was blessed to have both of you to care for her for so long as she aged.
