Lloyd George Hewitt II, 78 of Allendale, Michigan died Thursday, June 14, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 20, 1939 to Lloyd G. and Julia (Imly) Hewitt.  Lloyd married Agnes I. Tragesser on February 9, 1963, and she survives.

Lloyd was an insurance sales manager, retiring after 45 years.  He enjoyed wedding photography and had also worked for General Motors in Detroit.  Lloyd and Agnes had also lived in Kempton and Wisconsin.  Lloyd was a member of Saint Luke University Catholic Church in Allendale.  He enjoyed fishing, wood carving, playing cards with family and friends, being an entrepreneur and sitting outside with the wildlife in his back yard.

Lloyd served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1958.  He was a Navy Aerial Photographer working many flight operations with the Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes, two daughters, Dawn DeWitt and husband Greg of Tipton, and Cherie VanDam and husband Michael from Muskegon, Michigan.  He also has four grandchildren, Timothy Lloyd Corlew and wife Kelsey Conner, Devon M. Corlew, Wesley J. Dewitt and wife Tasha and Madison K. DeWitt.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Matthew S. Corlew and Sydney I. Machalinski and a son-in-law, Gregory M. Corlew.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Marty Gillespie presiding.  Visitation will be at St. John’s on Tuesday from 4:00 until service time.  Burial with military honors will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 21 at St. John’s Cemetery in Tipton.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. John’s building fund, 340 Mill Street, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.  Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
