Gary Purvis, 83 of Indianapolis, and formerly of Tipton, died Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at his residence.  He was born on October 29, 1935 to Bernard James and D. Pauline (Lynas) Purvis.  He married Dorothy Marie Minniear on June 11, 1954.  She preceded him in death on October 1, 1991.

Gary had worked with heating and air conditioning.  He enjoyed playing in the band during his school days.  A highlight of that era was playing during the Harry S. Truman whistle stop in Tipton in 1948.

He is survived by a daughter, Tanya Marie Bryant and husband Rick, and a brother Glen Purvis of Tipton.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Purvis.

A graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Gary Eberhart at noon Monday, December 10, at Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.  Visitation will also be Monday from 11:00 am until noon at Young-Nichols Funeral Home.
