Hughie Rich, 69, of Cicero died at 10:10 p.m. on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at his residence.  He was born on October 10, 1948 in Tipton to Radford & Rose (Moss) Rich.  Hughie married Diane Moran and she preceded him in death on April 4, 2005.  On May 20, 2016 he married Delora (Boes) Sullivan and she survives.

Hughie retired from Delco Electronics in Kokomo.  After retiring he also worked at Purgatory Golf Course in Noblesville.  He was a member of the American Legion and loved to play golf.  Hughie was a veteran, serving in the United States Navy.

He is survived by four children, Michael Rich and wife Audra, Noblesville, Amanda Hill and husband Jeff, Cicero, Brian Spivey and wife Ashley, Fishers, Kelson Moran, Indianapolis; 17 grandchildren, Justin Rich, Matthew Rich, Andrew Rich, Violet Rich, Ryne Spivey, Canon Spivey, Jessi Hill, Kailee Hill, Brady Hill, Billy Lewis, Sable Lewis, Brooklyn Lewis, Lelan Lewis, Chloe Lewis, Eli McGuire, Carter McGuire and Ethan Vawter.  He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Rich; a brother, Dewey Rich; a sister, Dafo (Rich) Strong.

Hughie’s funeral will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Hall presiding with military honors. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.  A private family burial will follow at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Boys & Girls Club of Tipton County Athletics, 341 W. Jefferson Street, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.

  2. I am so sorry to hear of Hughie’s passing. I don’t think I ever saw him without a smile. What a big heart he had. His love for the golf course was just as big. I know he will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Hughie had a heart bigger than himself and always a smile that made you want to smile no matter how your day was going. Much laughter was shared, in the hearts of many, Hughie was a great friend, that made him family!
