Jean Elizabeth Atchley
Jean Elizabeth (Honeas) Atchley, 87 of Tipton passed away at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Tipton. She was born at her childhood home in Tipton County on March 27, 1932 to Doyle and Glenola (Dell) Honeas. Jean married James Lonell Atchley on August 11, 1950. He preceded her in death on May 9, 2018.
Jean graduated from Kempton High School in the Class of 1950. She had worked at Delco Remy in Anderson for seven years and was a homemaker and farmer, helping with the field work, grain, and swine. Her activities included being a member of the Chester White Association; she enjoyed attending fairs and festivals, livestock shows and concerts. Jean formerly attended Hills Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Weismiller and husband Paul of Tipton and Pamela Doke and husband Paul of Tipton. Jean has two granddaughters, Lynn Ann Calloway and husband Tim of Tipton and Paula McCord and husband Shaun of Tipton. Great grandchildren include Camden and Conner Calloway and Cash and Cale McCord.
Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home. Funeral services for Jean will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11 also at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. James Lee Thurston presiding. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Hamilton County.
