Larry James Sanders, 77 of Carmel and formerly of Tipton died at 1:00 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019 at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital.  Larry also had previously lived in Noblesville and Atlanta, Indiana.  He was born in Tipton on July 29, 1942 to Don & Helen (Dashiell) Sanders.  On April 17, 1967 he married Patricia Tobin and they enjoyed 43 years of marriage together before she preceded him in death on April 12, 2011.

Larry worked for Steel Parts in Tipton, retiring in 2004.  He was a member of the American Legion in Tipton.  He also loved watching NASCAR along with playing Euchre with family and friends.  Larry served his county in the United States Army and Army National Guard from 1964-1970, during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by four children, Bernadette Deavers and husband Wayne, Tipton, Larry Sanders Jr. and fiancée Robin Chenoweth-Gifford, Sharpsville, Mike Sanders and wife Jamie, Noblesville, and Kevin Sanders, Noblesville; three siblings Donna Sumner and husband Cory, Noblesville, Don Sanders, Atlanta, Indiana, and John Sanders, Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren, Josie, Carson, Tristin, Suzanne, Stephanie, Joey, Shyann, Adam, Frankie, Madison, and Kevin Jr.  Larry was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Sanders.

Larry will have a graveside service at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20 at St. John’s Cemetery, Tipton with Military Rites.  Pastor Joe Brock will be presiding. Visitation is Wednesday also at Young-Nichols Funeral Home from noon until 1:00 p.m.

  1. I’m praying for all of you during this tough time. Your dad was amazing and always made me feel at home whenever I visited. I am sorry for such a great loss. He loved you all.
