Marilyn L. Mitchell, 93, of Sarasota, Florida and formerly of Kempton died January 3, 2023 at her residence. She was born in Frankfort, Indiana, on May 4, 1929, to Ralph and Ellen (Bordner) Martin. She married Marion Mitchell on December 3, 1950. They spent 64 years together until his death on December 26, 2014.

Marilyn worked at the Tipton County CO-OP as an Office Administrator. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipton.

Marilyn is survived by her son Mike Mitchell and wife Paula, grandchildren Ryan Mitchell, Alissa Phelps and husband Tim, Clayton Hughes and wife Jennifer, Joseph Reilly and wife Mercedes, Marcus Reilly; great-grandchildren Linc, PJ and May Hughes and a sister Shirley Ghere and a sister-in-law Bea Martin.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Marion, daughter Barbara Wood, siblings Jean Deardorf and husband Hugh, James Martin and wife Carol, Thomas Martin and brother-in-law Clifford Ghere.

The family will receive friends at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipton on Friday, February 24, starting at 10:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Dennis Goth presiding.

Young-Nichols Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.

    So sorry for your loss of your mom. She was a remarkable woman and will be missed by many. I remember the fun times of snowmobiling with your mom and dad. She was a trooper whether it was working or with fun and games. She put up with a lot of shenanigans. May the lifetime of memories comfort you and your family at this difficult time.

  2. I am so sorry to see this. Marilyn and Marion hauled Barb all over so her & I could show our horses together. ❤️ We went all through 4h together and made alot of open shows. We spent alot of time together and made alot of special memories along the way.
