Marjorie L. (Wood) Twilling, 98 of Tipton died at 11:05 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Tipton.  Marjorie also lived in Bellingham, Washington and Elwood.  She was born on January 20, 1921 in Indianapolis, Indiana to James W. & Artie (McNight) Wood.  On March 5, 1949 she married Thomas “Bud” Twilling and he preceded her in death June 16, 1979.  The couple enjoyed 30 years of marriage together.

She was a homemaker and cooked at several restaurants in Tipton.  She was member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipton.  Marjorie was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Women of the Moose Lodge #1590, where she served as Senior Regent, and was active in the Tipton County Democratic Party.  She enjoyed quilting and was an avid race fan, both Indy Car and NASCAR.   Marjorie went to races in Indianapolis, Daytona, Michigan, and watched them on TV.

She is survived by two children, Mary Brown (Rich), Tipton, Jane Ripberger, Tipton; a sister, Sue Jessup, Bloomington, Indiana; 13 grandchildren, Dennis Roadruck, Tim Pore (Tammy), Lori Berg (Larry), Cori Kennedy, Debbie Krise (Mike), Andrea Ripberger (Todd), Susan Nowakowski (David), Jennifer Endicott (Bruiser), Rusty Ripberger (Lindsay), Rachel Luttrell (Jeremy), Nicci Barajas, Rod Kelly ( Dianna), and Justin Kelly; 35 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.  She was also called Mom by many other kids around town.

She was preceded in death by three children, Robert Roadruck, Patricia Leisure, and Marty DeShon; a grandchild; several brothers and sisters.

A funeral Mass for Marjorie will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Fr. Dennis Goth presiding. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Tipton. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:30 p.m. also on Saturday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home.

Memorial donations in honor of Marjorie may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church building fund, 335 Mill Street, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.

A special thanks to the staff at Miller’s Merry Manor for the last 13 years of wonderful care.

    Mary Janie and family…I was so sorry to learn of your mom’s passing. Your family was such a huge part of my growing up years and I loved your mom. To me she was Aunt Marge! Her my mom and aunt Ruth were best friends for years and now they are together in heaven renewing their lifelong friendships. Much love to all of you!
