Nellie F. Roe, 82 of Goldsmith died at 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at I.U. Health Tipton Hospital. She was born on May 9, 1937 in Byrdstown, Tennessee to Johnathon Aubrey & Dorothy Jane (Flowers) Brannum.

Nellie worked at Delco Electronics in Kokomo. She enjoyed fishing, hunting mushrooms, hunting and trapping. Nellie was an avid gardener and grew many beautiful flowers. She was very handy around the house and dabbled in carpentry. Nellie was also certified small engine repair. She would drop everything to go help her children and family when they needed it.

She is survived by her five children, Glen Allen Liston and wife Connie, Pall Mall, Tennessee, Michael Dale Roe, Tipton, Daniel Vaughn Roe and wife Tina, Goldsmith, Ruth Ann (Young) Glassburn and husband Rick, Tipton, Tanya Lynn (Roe) Jackson and husband Travis, Goldsmith; two sisters, Essie Kay Writtenhouse and Virginia May Mahaney.

Nellie is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Misty Griffin and husband Chad, Jennifer Liston Potter and husband Barry, Wade Liston, Sarah Liston, Jeremy Allen Ramsey, Nikki Roe Hicks, Daniel Roe, Alex Roe, John Roe, Skyler Bennet, Eric Glassburn, Wesley Glassburn, Lauren Glassburn, Lindsey Glassburn, Jason Glassburn, Amber Hassler, and Kyriah Jackson and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Kay Roe; five brothers, Willie D. Brannum, Johnathon David Brannum, Wendell Roosevelt Brannum, Gilbert Brannum and Climer Francis Brannum; two grandchildren, Keith Allen Liston and Audra Liston.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Logan Westrick presiding. Visitation will be on Sunday also, from 4:00 p.m. until time of the service.

  1. Nellie was one of our favorite customers; she was always happy and friendly with all the employees. she always had a positive attitude about life. My self and the employees of Ace will miss her tremendously. Our prays and condolences to the Row family.

      Awww yes my momma was beautiful and (onry when needed) thank you for your thoughts it is the worst pain in the world to lose my heart my protector my strong enough to raise 6 kids mostly on her own and my world she was always there for me

  2. I knew Nellie from the times I would see here at a another local residents for music. She didn’t come often, but she did attend. And, she was an aunt to one of my good friends and former classmate, Ralph A. “Tony” Brannum. May she Rest in Peace now.

      She is missed I feel like I had a balloon attached to my head and when she passed something happened and my balloon floated away and I haven’t been the same since

      Thank you natasha your comments brightened my day I know a few of those stories my momma was great and she is tearfully (i can’t stop crying) gone nowvand joyful (smiled at everyone and called most people hun) I’m proud to know you felt so kind about my mom it means everything to me

    Has anyone seen it i believe it went to heaven with my momma and I feel so lost its like when she was alive I had a connection in the world and then SNIP someone cut my string and there went my balloon and I am so lost needing encouraging words from people who knew my mom or just saw her around town she was a strong woman and she didn’t take no sh@t
