Thomas A. “Tom” Smith, 85 of Noblesville, and formerly of Tipton, died at 10:02 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. He was born on October 27, 1934 in Tipton to Donald & Charlotte (Snyder) Smith.  On April 17, 1983 he married Helen F. (Butz) Howard and she survives.

Tom was the former owner of Smith Tire Service in Tipton. He also worked at Autozone and Ace Hardware in Tipton before retiring in 2010.  Tom loved to fish and spend time with his family.  He was a graduate of Tipton High School, Class of 1952.  Tom was also a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipton.  Tom had served in the National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Helen;  six children, Jeff Smith and wife Kanthima, Noblesville, Mike Smith and wife Monica, Warsaw, Indiana, Andy “Drew” Smith and wife Susan, Fairfield, Ohio, Jay Howard and wife Bethanne, Kokomo, Sue Knight and fiancé Doug Atchley, Noblesville, Tim Howard and wife Tina, Tipton.

He is also survived by a brother, Steve Smith and wife Wanda, Tipton; 17 grandchildren, Kayla Howard, Chelsea Howard and boyfriend Brandon, Jeff Sorce, Brandon Knight, Kenzie Knight, Kyle Howard, Paige Howard, Erica Coonce, Tony Pharis and wife Lynsey, Dylan Pharis, Zach Smith, Matt Smith, Gracie Smith, Bryce Smith and wife Rachel, Quinn Smith, Aubrey Agin and husband Tanner, and Gage Smith; eight great-grandchildren, Lexie, Jaiden, Halle, Avery, Braxton, Knox, Reed and Cohen.

It was Tom’s wish to not have any service at the time of his passing.  A Celebration of Life is being planned for the near future to allow his family and friends to gather and remember Tom’s life.  Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial contributions in Tom’s honor may be made to the building fund at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 335 Mill Street, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.

    So Sorry Jeff for the Loss of your Father.. Thoughts and Prayers for you and Your Family. I was just Speaking of your Father and how we used to buy our Flocked Christmas Trees at Smith Tire. Your Father was so Kind and Friendly, a Good Man.
