Vicki Gianakos-Griesel, 58 of Tipton passed away at 7:30 p.m. on  Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at home surrounded by her family.  Vicki put up a valiant fight against the cancer that invaded her body. She was born on October 12, 1963 in Indianapolis to Mike & Bea (Scures) Gianakos.  Vicki had lived in Carmel for 35 years, McCordsville 4 years and Indianapolis for 19 years before moving to Tipton.  She married Todd Griesel on May 20, 2006 and he survives.

Vicki was a self-employed graphic designer, a career that she was very proud to have.  She was a graduate of Carmel High School, Class of 1981 and graduated from Butler University in 1985.  She was raised as a member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Indianapolis, and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.  Vicki was a National Envoy at Affiliated Women International.

Survivors besides her husband Todd include two children, Jessica Griesel and Cole Griesel, both of Tipton.  Vicki was preceded in death by both of her parents.

Funeral services for Vicki will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Nafziger presiding.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.

Due to her great love of animals, memorial donations in Vicki’s honor may be made to the Tipton County Humane Society, P.O. Box 237, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.

    I was so sorry to hear of your loss. I have know her family for years. I am honoredto have one of her Yiayia’s afghas displayed in my house, which holds many fond memories.

    I am sorry I will be unable to pay my respects to you all. Monday, I have a CAT scan, for I, too, have cancer. Unfortunately it strikes many families.

    I’m so sorry for the loss of Vicki. We grew up together in the Greek Church in Indianapolis, she and my sister Gloria were the same age… She was always a very sweet person. I know that there are no words that will make this any easier on the family. May her memory be eternal.
