William W. “Bill” Witham, 89 of Sharpsville, died at 10:39 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at his residence.  Bill was born on September 4, 1928 in Prairie Township of Tipton County, Indiana to Paul Augustine & Mary Helen (Davenport) Witham.  He had lived in Elizaville and Lebanon prior to 1952.  On December 14, 1952 he married Patricia J. Snyder and she survives.

Bill retired form Adler Seeds in 1990.  He had previously worked at Stellite, Swartout, drove a semi, owned Witham Standard Station and had served as the Sharpsville Town Marshall.

Bill was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, OES Chapter 148 & 540, Masonic Lodge 372 (32nd Degree) and was a member of the NRA.  He had been a member of Sharpsville Volunteer Fire Department.  Bill liked to tinker in his garage, trap shoot, archery, woodworking and took great pride in his yard.  He served in the US Army as a truck mechanic during the Korean War.

Survivors besides his wife Pat include two children, Sharon Pace, Atlanta and William “Willie” Witham and wife Jodi. Sharpsville; four grandchildren, John Swigart, James Swigart and wife Liz, Jacqueline Duvall and husband Joey, Heather Witham Schulenburg and husband Bert; four great-grandchildren, Alyssa Swigart, Keenan Duvall, Aiden Duvall and Ada Schulenburg.  Bill was preceded in death by one brother, Marcus Witham.

Funeral services for Bill will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, at Liberty Baptist Church, 3530 N.  1000 W., Tipton beginning with a Masonic Service.  Rev. Meriah VanderWeide will be presiding.  Burial will be Sharpsville Cemetery at a later date.  Military honors will be rendered at the church.  Visitation will be from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Saturday.  Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial donations in Bill’s memory may be made to Sharpsville VFD or Sharpsville Community Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 411, Sharpsville, Indiana, 46068.
