Allen Turner

 -

Allen Turner, 80 of Frankfort passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Compassus Hospice in Indianapolis. He was born in Richmond, Indiana on November 30, 1942. On November 9, 1963 he married Winnie Ruth Heard and she survives. The couple was just shy of their 60th wedding anniversary.

Allen was a Tool and Die Maker all of his life, first working at Chrysler in Kokomo. Later in his career, he worked for United Tool & Die, AA Service Tool & Die, and Mallory in Frankfort. He finished his career at Delco Electronics in Kokomo, retiring in 2001. Allen was a member of the United Methodist Church in Scircleville. He could fix anything; he enjoyed spending time in his shop creating tools and parts that are impossible to find. He cherished his family and greatly enjoyed family dinners, reunions, and the time they all got to spend together. Anyone who knew Allen knew that it was not the destination that was important, it was the drive. He loved to cruise around in the countryside admiring it in all its beauty. Allen took pride in his home and enjoyed doing all the maintenance on it. He loved his dogs and they were very special to him.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; four boys, Mark Allen Turner and wife Kate of Kokomo, Brian Keith Turner of Indianapolis, Gregory Glenn Turner of Kokomo, Matthew Hayes Turner and wife Ashley of Frankfort; a grandson, Matthew Metzger and girlfriend Jalyn of Washington State; siblings, Sue Smith of Frankfort, Paula Hight and husband Charles of Greenwood and several nieces and nephews. Allen was preceded in death by his mother, Iloe (Scircle) Wilburn; siblings, Jeanne Wyant, Kay Turner, Michel Ferguson, and Pat Wilburn.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Kilmore Methodist Church in Frankfort at a later date. Pastor Craig Overman will preside over the service. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the Turner Family. Online condolences for Allen may be left on his obituary page at www.young-nichols.com.

  6. Ruth, so sorry to hear of Allen’s passing. We ran into him at Faye’s Northside not long ago. He thought I might not remember him, but it’s easy to remember the kind people from the dental practice. We had a nice visit and I asked about you. I wish you peace at this sorrowful time.

I’m deeply sad to know of Allen’s passing. I volunteered at Tipton IU where we chatted often and was always happy he would be with Charles and Paula when they came to visit with us . Nice man I’ll miss him.
