Anna Mae Hughey, 89 of Tipton passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at her home.  Anna Mae was born in Tipton on January 20, 1934 to Glen & Eva (Gettle) Mock.  She was a dedicated employee at General Motors – Delco Electronics in Kokomo and worked there for 32 years before retiring.

Anna Mae was a graduate of Tipton High School in the Class of 1952.  She enjoyed spending her free time at home working with her flower garden and enjoying her animals.  She used to travel with the motorcycle group from Delco and was able to visit many states this way.

Survivors include her two children, John Hughey and wife Karen and Eva Whisler and husband Phil, all of Tipton; one sister, Zonda Tebbe and husband Bob of Tipton.  Anna Mae has five grandchildren, Diana (Jason) Howe, Linsey (Jeff) Melander, Erin (Mike) Kassner and Korey (Katelynn) Whisler; 10 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two siblings, Gean Booher and Hazel Joann Fletcher.

Funeral services for Anna Mae will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Harvey McDaniels presiding.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.  Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 prior to the service on Thursday.

  1. Eva and Phil. So sorry to read about your Mom. She was fortunate to have had you close to drop and enjoy on weekends. Tho those will be difficult times now they are precious memories to cherish. My thoughts and prayers for your families.

    Anna Mae would come into the office where I was secretary and talk about her gardening mostly to me. One soon learns to just be a good listener in those circumstances, and I was glad to be. – Lisa C.
