Phillip W. Frazier, 83 of Kokomo passed away at 8:33 a.m. on Monday, January 1, 2024 at North Woods Village. He was born on September 18, 1940 in Knightstown to Frederick & Flora (Thomas) Frazier. Phil had also lived in Tipton, Fillmore, Bluffton, South Carolina, Rotunda West, Florida and Kokomo. On August 21, 1960 he married Betty Culbertson and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage.

Phil had a strong work ethic. He started working at fourteen years old for Marsh Supermarket. He transferred to Tipton where he met and married Betty. The next transfer took him to Lafayette where their son Tim was born. The last move with Marsh was Greencastle where Julie was born. Phil left Marsh and using the skills he had learned about the grocery business, started his own successful store.

His love of carpentry led him to build three homes for his family. After moving to South Carolina in the 1980’s, he utilized his woodworking talent as a finish carpenter, primarily creating custom cabinetry for many clients on Hilton Head.

After retiring to Florida, Phil finally had time to indulge his love of boats, spending more time tinkering with them than sailing them. He also enjoyed watching and photographing birds with Betty, and traveling all over the United States in their motor home—a life well lived.

Survivors besides his wife Betty include two children, Timothy Frazier and wife Manuela, Hope, Idaho and Julie Pinkerton, Avon, Ohio; four grandchildren, Max and Megan Frazier and Casey and Charlie Pinkerton and one great-granddaughter, Elise Marie Frazier born on Tuesday, January 2. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne Frazier and Jay Frazier and one son-in-law, Joseph Pinkerton.

A family-led service is planned for 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 5 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. also on Friday. Condolences for Phil’s family may be left on his obituary page at www.young-nichols.com.
