Bill and Dave, my condolences on the loss of your Aunt Jane. Amazing long life. God Bless. I remember she giving us speech lessons at the Goldsmith house. Jane was at IU when my parents were there.

Steve, thank you for leaving a memory of Aunt Jane. It is a memory share because I also remember those speech lessons. I also remember you and I performing a duet speech presentation for some group. I don’t know if we were good or not but neither one of us forgot our parts. Bill

  2. I remember this wonderful lady from my youth. She was a friend of both my parents. Sharing a long standing eastern Star membership with my mother Velma Watson as well as early teaching experience with my father Roy Watson.

Emily Ann…Thank you so much for remembering Aunt Jane. I certainly have great memories of you and your family, especially your Mother who was one of my all time favorites. Bill

I would pass by Jane’s house as I walked to the General Store in Goldsmith. We would stop and talk if she was working outside. She mowed with an electric lawn mower with a long cord! We kids loved to pick up and break open the pods from the coffee bean tree that grew out front. And forever I will remember the sweet peas that grew on the fence on the edge of her property, so pretty and dainty. I think of Jane every Flag Day, her birthday. So fortunate that she lived to enjoy so many!

Sherri, thank you for the memory post and thank you for stopping by. I remember the gifts that you gave Aunt Jane on flag day and I still have the pictures that you gave us of “Nellie Blye’s woods.” Bill

  4. I remember my 2 years in Miss Tyner’s Latin class. She seemed small in stature to me but quietly strong and extremely determined to drill the ancient language into our high school brains. Little did we know then what a helpful background basic Latin would be for future English classes in addition to reading and creative writing. She was truly a lovely lady and a memorable teacher.
May the joy of her long life and her gifts to all her students be a wonderful memory to the family.
Veni, Vide, Vici would have been a good motto for her.
    Requiescat in pace.

Rice, thank you so much for the memory post. Aunt Jane loved Jackson Central and her Latin students. She especially loved doing the Latin Banquet each year. I would hear all about it. I am now a resident of Cicero and occasionally run into one of her old students. Bill Campbell (nephew)

I was so sad to read about Jane’s passing. I remember years and years ago when my mom sold Avon products. I couldn’t have been more than 6 or 7 years old. We’d stop by to see Jane, and Nellie Blye, and sometimes Margaret would be there. I remember lots of laughter, and cookies, and three old friends having a wonderful afternoon. I don’t believe that my mom ever got around to selling her Avon. I hope you’re doing well. I always enjoyed the fun you brought to the MYF meetings at the Goldsmith Church. Another great memory.
