Judy K. Martin
Judy K. Martin, 80 of Tipton passed away at 2:36 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2023 at IU Health – Tipton Hospital. Judy was born in Elwood on October 18, 1942 to Earl & Louise (Clark) Sottong. Judy married Keith Martin on November 4, 1958 and they celebrated 64 years of marriage before her passing.
Judy was a graduate of Tipton High School. She had worked at McGraw’s in Tipton and later worked for 32 years in the Tipton County Courthouse serving in the Treasurer’s and Clerk’s offices. Judy was a member of the Windfall Church of the Brethren and attended Windfall United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Tipton Women’s Democrat Club. She liked to crochet and was an avid shopper, always looking for a bargain.
Survivors besides her husband Keith include their two children, Dean Martin and wife Kathleen and Julia Lambert, all of Tipton; one sister, Karen Brown and husband Vic, Tipton, three sisters-in-law, Judy, Linda and Joyce Sottong. Judy was blessed with four grandchildren, Trevor Martin and wife Georgie, Taylor Martin, Torrey Martin and Marissa Lambert. Keith and Judy have one great-grandchild on the way.
Judy was preceded in death by three brothers, Ronnie Sottong, Russell Sottong and Bud Sottong as well as one sister, Janet Burkhardt.
Funeral services for Judy will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, August 5 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home. Judy’s granddaughter, Pastor Torrey Martin will preside at the service. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Memorial donations in honor of Judy should be made to the Windfall United Methodist Church, 201 S. Independence Street, Windfall, Indiana, 46076.

Have known Judy since Nov.4 1958, next day Keith and I left for the armed forces. Judy will be sadly missed. a very fine lady and certainly will miss her at church on Sunday Mornings, Our prayers go out to the entire family. May God look down upon you and comfort you in your great loss.

Was away last week and just learned about Judy’s death today. Remember visiting my Sottong cousins and always enjoyed being with them.
