Sherry A. Osborn, 88 of Tipton passed away at 6:12 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Tipton on July 27, 1935 to Doris Arthur Plake & Ruby P. (Burris) Fox.  On June 9, 1954, she married William C. Osborn who preceded her in death on May 5, 1964.  After William’s death, she married James L. Osborn on August 29, 1964.  The couple was married for 56 years before Jame’s passing on April 8, 2021.

Sherry was a member of the Church of Christ.  Her family was the center of her life and she loved being a housewife, mother, and grandmother.  Her house was always full of love and sometimes very chaotic with the kids running around.  In her spare time she loved to sew, quilt, and bake.  There are many things she made throughout her life that her family will cherish for generations to come.

Sherry is survived by her four daughters, Cindy Boyle and husband Bill of Meridianville, Alabama, Christy McDole and husband Steve of Reelsville, Indiana, Judy Osborn-Turner and husband John Turner of Amo, Indiana, and Stephanie Osborn of Lafayette, Indiana; siblings, Ruby Jeanne Wylie of Cookeville, Tennessee, Sonny Plake and wife Lynn of Burkburnett, Texas, Arletta Baxter of Tipton and Vicki Dickey and husband Fred of Frankfort.

She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Rebekah Boyle, David Boyle, Bryan McDole, Jaci McDole, Kevin, Casey, Calani, Terah & Mikaela Hitchell, Elizabeth, Jacob, Courtney, Noah & Elijah Eddy and Whitney Osborn.  She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.  Sherry was preceded in death by two sons, William C. Osborn II and Joseph C. Osborn and two brothers, Jack E. Plake and Charles W. Plake.

Funeral services will be at Young-Nichols Funeral Home on Sunday, November 5 at 3:00 p.m. with Chaplain Brian Daehn presiding. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service.

      I am so sorry to learn of Sherry’s passing. My heart goes out to all of the family. I know there’s nothing I can say to ease your pain. I hope, in time, all the wonderful memories you have of her will be a comfort to you all. I’ll be joining you in prayers and remembrances of this wonderful lady.

  2. I got to speak with Sherry every 3 months being her Pest Control technician. She was always sweet to me and her humor always stuck out. My prayers are with her family and I’ll miss seeing her. She had very dedicated daughters who made sure she knew she was loved.

    So many fond memories of your parents! Watching the Jerry Lewis Telethon, to cutting wood or shooting guns to watching scary Sammy Terry late night with your mom. Or who could forget playing Pit with the bull and bear and the Bell. They were a special couple with large hearts.
