Ann J. (Camren) Smelser, 88 of Elkhorn, Nebraska, and formerly of Tipton, died on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Brookstone Meadows in Elkhorn.  She was born in Tipton on November 19, 1930 to Harold Victor & Elizabeth (Weaver) Camren.  On June 11, 1950 Ann married Arthur Smelser and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage until his passing on July 7, 2011.

Ann had worked as a Ward Clerk at Tipton County Memorial Hospital.  She was a devoted member of Emanuel Lutheran Church where she was a member of the choir.  She was a graduate of Tipton High School in the Class of 1948 and had attended Butler University.

Ann is survived by two sons, Gary Smelser and wife Cathy (Ekstrom), Ames, Iowa and Richard Smelser, Elkhorn, Nebraska; one brother, Alan Camren and wife Pam, South Bend; five grandchildren, Matthew Smelser and wife Kristina, Andrew Smelser and wife Ashley, Rachel Wassenaar and husband Tom, Stephanie Miller and husband Tony and Ryan Smelser and wife Brittany; nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Art, a sister, Linda Mann, one son David Smelser and one daughter-in-law, Karen Smelser.

Funeral services for Ann will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 29 at Emanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Robb Roloff presiding.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 – 11:00 on Saturday.  Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
